Anglia Makeover...
She has been in a shoddy state for too long. On the 11th April at approximately 12.00pm GMT, Steve and Mike began the stripping of their beloved Le Mans blud Ford Anglia, 728 AXY. Off whipped the doors, bonnet and boot, along with trims, lights and besels etc. Paint work and engine will follow suit. On this page there will be a photo diary plus some comical words no doubt, following the make under and make good of the little Anglebox. Hope you enjoy.
Proposed Modifications :
Bodywork : Heavy bonnet, boot and doors removed and to be replaced with fibreglass numbers to save weight. Considering perspex windows for doors and rear screen. This to be confrimed. Bubble arches (steel) to be applied to all wings. Paintwork is 99.9% likely to be done in British Racing Green with White roof. Headlamp and rear light besels (hopefully) done in Chrome. Inside and Engine bay to match car. Black powder coat roll cage to be installed.
Engine : Crossflow to be sold. Car to be modernised with Ford Focus ST170 2.0 Zetec engine. Type 9 box and with a few months hard saving, straight cut internals to follow. Yet to decide on Twin 48's / 50's or keep fuel injection? ( I love Carb noise but Injection would be more reliable + efficient. Decisions).
Wheels + Stopping : Up size rims to 15" to fill bubble arches. Brakes will need to be vastly uprated. Vented four pots to front and rear disc conversion decided on already.
Wheels available to view @ : http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/large_wheel_pages/b60.html (mine are the blue ones but they will painted white!)
Interior : New seats. The Astra GTE ones have seen better days. Got some white leatherette buckets with black piping on order. Unsure of floor yet. Will decide nearer the time. Rear seat back panel to be cut out and replaced. All new custom dash and centre console to be installed. New harnesses to match seats.
Others : Of course there will be. But i cant remember what they are. I'll list em as i go.
